The EMN meeting grew out of a small workshop series that began in 2008 in Orlando, Florida. Over the next three years, six additional successful workshops were organized on various topics in material science under the title of \u201eVilla Conference\u201c. These \u201eVilla Conferences\u201c series has grown rapidly beyond the traditional villa setting, continuing to attract highly-quality contributions from members of the international scientific and engineering communities. In 2012 the first Conference with a broader theme of Energy, Materials and Nanotechnology was held. Every year, this group organizes several meetings with different and more specifically focused topics in attractive places around the world \u2013 so we visited one which was focused on porous materials (2D nanoporous materials, Carbon-based porous materials, Covalent Organic Framework, Metal Organic Framework, Mesoporous Materials, Porous Metasurface, Porous Organic Polymers, Porous General). The whole\nmeeting was fool of the interesting contributions of which we would like to\nmention the one from the prof. Toshihide Horikawa (Water adsorption mechanism\non porous carbon materials), dr. Benjamin Besser (Towards understanding gas\nflow in functionalized mesoporous membranes) and also the one from the prof.\nDavid Faux (Nanoscale characterization of porous material by fast-field-cycling\nNMR). During the whole conference, 32\npresentations and 11 posters were presented in total during the two (full)\ndays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the conference program (during the days off), we visited both, the beautiful historic centre of Dubrovnik, and we also tried the \u201eservices and facilities\u201c of the hotel where the conference was organized (swimming pools, saunas, and especially the sea).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
