Characterization of the study
The doctoral field of study is based on interdisciplinary research specialization of the Department of Chemistry. Since 1991, the research specialization has been developed especially with a focus on studying and monitoring of systems “gas – solid” and “liquid – solid”. These complex heterogeneous systems participate in many technologies as well as in the environmental systems and they possess an increasing significance. The research topic is closely connected with the environmental problems of our region. The subject content of the study is aimed at amplifying theoretical bases as well as at a detailed acquaintance with possibilities of analytical application of techniques and methods involved in the department research – optical, separating, electrochemical methods, mass spectrometry, thermal analysis including calorimetry, and selected bio-analytical and physical- chemical methods.
Character of graduate’s profile
Graduates of the doctoral study will be a fully qualified expert with profound theoretical knowledge of instrumental analysis, including mathematical and statistical evaluation of experimental data. They will be able to apply experimental methods of chemical analysis to solve real problems of chemical analysis in practice as well as to develop new analytical methods. They obtain an ability of independent research work in all its parts – research planning, projects preparation, experiments planning and evaluation, and publication of results in English; pedagogical experience will be also obtained. The graduates can assert themselves in practical chemical laboratories and academic fields – materials science, environment. They can find their role in the research institutes and universities.
